Step 1. Make sure your TV and Roku device are plugged in.
Step 2. Make sure your TV and Roku device have been turned on for at least 30 seconds.
Step 3. Make sure your Roku device is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi. If you see “no connection” in the upper right corner of your TV, then you must first connect it to your WiFi. To connect your Roku device to your Wi-Fi, go to Settings > Network from your Roku device.
Step 4. Make sure your phone’s Wi-Fi is turned on.
Step 5. Make sure your phone’s Wi-Fi is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi. Both your Roku and your phone need to be connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network.
Step 6. Make sure your phone has the correct iOS permissions enabled. From your iOS device, go to Settings > Privacy > Local Network. Make sure RoByte is toggled on.
Step 7. Force close RoByte on your phone.
Step 8. Turn your phone’s Wi-Fi off and then back on again.
Step 9. Open RoByte.
If that isn’t working, open RoByte and tap “Manually Connect”. From here, enter the IP address of your Roku. To find the IP address on a Roku TV, go to Settings > System > About. For all other Roku devices, go to Settings > About.
If you're still having issues connecting, try powering down your Roku device, phone, and router. Restart all devices, wait 3 minutes, then open RoByte on your phone again.
Yes you can control your Roku TV with RoByte. When connected, you will have control of volume and power on/off.
The power button is only available for Roku TV's and certain Roku players. A good way to tell if your Roku supports power is by looking at your physical remote. If it has a power button, RoByte will let you power on/off your device.
To enable Power On functionality, your Roku TV needs to have "Fast TV Start" enabled. To do this, go into your Roku TV's settings and select System > Power, and enable "Fast TV Start".
To control your Roku TV's volume, press the physical volume keys on your iPhone or iPad.
Volume control is only supported by Roku TVs and certain Roku players. Please check with your Roku model to see if volume is supported. Additionally, external speakers such as soundbars do not support volume control from the app.
